I’ve been obsessed with olive oil ever since I was a child. Even if I tried, I couldn’t explain to you why. My mama likes to think it’s because she used to massage me with olive oil as a baby, but the massages have stopped and my obsession is still going.
Aged 9, I went on a trip to Portugal, and tasted something completely different to what I was used to at home. And that's when my awakening happened.
There’s 1600 varieties of olives around the world. Each olive will give you a different tasting oil. In that beautiful moment in Portugal, I actually tasted the difference. It’s by no surprise that I trained as an olive oil sommelier, and was selected as an international judge.
